SUBJECT: Discussion on Attendance and Designation of Voting Delegate and Alternates for the 2023 League of California Cities Annual Conference - Annual Business Meeting, September 20 - September 22, 2023, Sacramento, CA
REPORT IN BRIEF
To expedite the conduct of business at this important policy-making meeting, each City Council is asked to designate a voting representative and two alternates who will be present at the meeting.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion designating one voting delegate and two alternate voting delegates to the League of California Cities Annual Conference General Business Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, September 20, 2023 in Sacramento, CA.

1. Designate voting representatives as outlined in the staff report; or
2. Designate other City officials attending the conference; or
3. Take no action.
AUTHORITY
The membership takes action on conference resolutions at the Annual Business Meeting. Annual Conference resolutions guide cities and the League in efforts to improve the quality, responsiveness, and vitality of local government in California. Therefore, it is very important that all cities be represented at the Business Meeting on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, in Sacramento.

DISCUSSION
To expedite the conduct of business at this important policy-making meeting, each City Council is asked to designate a voting representative and two alternates who will be present at the Annual Business meeting. The League by-laws provide that each city is entitled to one vote in matters affecting municipal or League policy.
If the Mayor or a member of the City Council is in attendance at the Annual Business Meeting, it is expected that one of these officials will be designated as the voting delegate. However, if the City Council does not have a registered delegate at the conference, but will be represented by other City officials, one of the other officials can be designated the voting delegate or alternate.
IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
No appropriation of funds is needed.
