Current Action

The United Way of Merced County currently operates a Mountain Valley 211 Program (MV-211).  MV-211 is a resource and referral center and is open to all City of Merced residents, either by telephone or online.  MV-211 aids residents who are looking for community resources, such as personal protective equipment, financial assistance, food, housing, and medical assistance.

MV-211 will use the ARPA funding to upgrade the MV-211 program by hiring more bilingual staff, develop a mobile application that would be available in English, Spanish, Hmong and/or Punjabi, combine the existing Help Hub Merced County with MV-211 Program for more real-time assistance, update the MV-211 website for easier use, launch a campaign so human service providers are aware of the MV-211 program, and identify any gaps in the database or gaps in services within Merced county.

Staff is requesting approval of the Professional Services Agreement with the United Way of Merced County for the Mountain Valley 211 Program, in a not to exceed amount of $50,000, to upgrade the MV-211 Program, and for the City Manager or Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
