DISCUSSION

The Police Department is in the process of replacing eight new marked SUV’s, and two marked F150 pickup trucks. These computers will be the newest state of the art machines that have all the latest technology.

This purchase will allow the Police Department to outfit 10 “marked” police units with the latest technology which will allow our officers and staff the ability to interface with state and federal databases and computer systems and to perform more work and essential functions in the field.

The funding for the purchases of these computers and required accessories is from the current year approved budget. There will be no other funds needed for this purchase.  The funds are currently within Fund 2001-Measure “C” and under the Vehicle account.

We have attached two quotes to this admin report to show that we have done our due diligence in getting the best price possible.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

The total cost for these computers, accessories and protection plans is quoted at $71,724.10, the remaining funds in an amount not to exceed $110,000 will be used as contingency funds for this purchase. The funding is available within Fund 2001-Measure “C” and under the Vehicle account.
