DISCUSSION

The City Council instructed staff to rehabilitate the 27th and K Youth Center in order to lease the facility out for youth programming activities. The Parks and Recreation Department published a request for interest, seeking interested parties and recently awarded the lease to Restorative Justice League for afterschool programming. Challenged Family Resource Center would like to partner with Restorative Justice League at the center and provide daytime programming for typically developing and non-typically developing children ages 0-5 years of age. Programming would run two days a week, from 9:30am -1:30pm conducting playgroups that work on social skills, milestones, and early education through the art of play. Staff are asking for direction from council regarding the proposal and lease agreement.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

Lessee and other leasing entities will be responsible to pay the costs of the monthly utility charges of this facility once the fees exceed the $7,500 amount offered by lessor.
