DISCUSSION
In July 2021, the City entered into an Agreement for Professional Services with Merced Area Sports Officials (MASO) to provide officiating, scorekeeping, and scheduling services for youth and adult sports. The initial agreement was $26,750. This amount has been sufficient to cover Adult Fall Softball, Adult Basketball, Youth Flag Football and Youth Basketball. However, additional funding in the amount of $8,640 is necessary to cover the Spring Adult Softball league through FY 21-22. This amendment will increase the not-to-exceed contracted amount from $26,750 to $35,390.
The Spring Softball league was not included in the original agreement because the vendor was unsure in July if he would have sufficient officials for the other leagues due to Covid-19. Each of the other sports in the agreement have more than enough officials, and MASO is able to confidently move forward with providing services for Adult Spring Softball in March.
IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
Funding is available within the Parks and Community Services Department’s current FY 21-22 operating budget.
