REPORT IN BRIEF

Considers awarding a Statement of Services Agreement in the amount of $141,500.00 to Straight Edge Roofing for the removal and replacement the roof for Fire Station 51.

 

RECOMMENDATION

City Council - Adopt a motion:

 

A.  Awarding the Fire Station 51 Roof Replacement Project No. 122075 to Straight Edge Roofing in the amount of $141,500.00; and,

 

B.  Authorizing the City Manager or Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents and to approve change orders not to exceed 10% of the total contract; and,

 

C.  Authorizing the Finance Officer to make necessary budget adjustments.

CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES

The Council considers the Fire Station 51 Roof Replacement as a Council Priority.

 

DISCUSSION

The project consists of, in general, of the removal and replacement of the roof system for Fire Station 51. The work includes removal and replacement of shingles, underlayment’s, flashing, gutters, and downspouts. Work would also include installation of a new fabric reinforced coating system for the existing flat roof’s A/C well. The approximate roof area for Fire Station 51 is 16,000 square feet and is located at 99 E. 16th Street.

 

In April 2022, staff solicited Request for Bids for the Fire Station 51 Roof Replacement Project.  Staff prepared a Request for Bids that were received on May 6, 2022, with a total of five (5) bid submissions:

 

1.                     Clark Roofing Inc.                     $ 230,600.00

2.                     Durable Cool Roofs, Inc.                     $ 220,510.00

3.                     Fresno Roofing Co Inc.                     $ 197,000.00

4.                     Graham Prewett, Inc.                     $ 178,000.00

5.                     Straight Edge Roofing Inc.                     $ 141,500.00

 

The following is the proposed budget for the project:

 

Construction

$141,500.00

Contingency (Engineering, Testing & Inspection)

$14,150.00

TOTAL:

$155,650.00

 

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

Funding for the Fire Station 51 Roof Replacement Project will be provided by the Fire Department using accounts 001-0901-627.65-00-122075 and 084-0955-627.65-00-122075. Sufficient funding is currently available within the accounts.
