Considers awarding a Construction Contract to Badillo Construction & Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $165,561.00 for Project CP250061, Stowell Elementary School sidewalks and crosswalks.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:
A. Awarding the Construction Contract for Stowell School Sidewalks and Crosswalks, Project CP250061, to Badillo Construction & Engineering, Inc., in the amount of $165,561.00; and,
B. Authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents and to approve change orders not to exceed 15% of the total contract.

DISCUSSION
On June 17, 2024, Council approved Resolution 2024-55 adding Stowell School & Sidewalks to the Roads Repair Accountability Act (SB-1) for fiscal year 2024-2025.
This project is located on 11th Street, D Street and E Street near Stowell Elementary School. The sidewalk has been damaged by tree roots and in desperate need to repair. A portion of this project will add access ramps to the intersection of 11th Street and E street. The upgrade at the respective intersection is needed to meet current ADA requirements. The installation of new sidewalks, crosswalks and ADA ramps will enhance safety for students and City of Merced residents.
The work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, installing a new sidewalk, curb, gutter, ADA ramps, cross gutter, crosswalk striping and removing of trees.
Staff prepared plans and specifications, and the project was advertised for bids. Bids were opened on April 08, 2025, with the following results:
