DISCUSSION

On November 7, 2022, Council awarded the CMAQ Multi-Use Pathway on Motel Drive project to Redstone Construction, Inc., in the amount of $993,059.00 with a 10% contingency of $99,305.90. The work to be done included construction and installation of approximately 2,000 linear feet of new 8-foot-wide multi-use pathway, vertical median, driveways, two new access ramps, drainage swale, striping, signage and a modification to the existing Motel Drive and Merced Avenue intersection. All work was performed along Motel Drive from Merced Avenue to Carol Avenue.

This change order is in the amount of $112,897.00 which is $13,591.10 over the contingency amount of $99,305.90. This increase will be the Final increase to close out the project.

The change order that exceeds the contingency amount is due to the following items:

1.                     Additional drainage pipe within the drainage swale,

2.                     Widening a driveway that was too narrow for trucks entering,

3.                     Additional drain rock where an open trench was proposed,

4.                     Additional drainage structures to drain out water from the swale, and,

5.                     Additional roadway repair to re-align the intersection of Motel Drive and Merced Avenue.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

Project CP190043 was established as a Capital Improvement Project to be funded by Measure V, SB1-LPP, LTF and Sewer Enterprise funds. There is sufficient funding in the project to complete this change order.
