The Clerk’s office began a recruitment campaign that consisted of a social media push over several weeks coordinated with the Public Information Officer to alert citizens of the vacancies, a series of emails for the board sent to over 5,000 recipients notifying the of the recruitment, and a public notice published on Merced County Times.

On February 20, 2024, Council appointed members to the Citizens Stipend Setting Commission for Districts 2-6 and the At-Large seat. Due to zero applications received by District 1, Council made a motion to continue recruitment efforts and come back to the March 4th Council Meeting.
