Considers awarding a Construction Contract to Clyde G. Steagall, Inc. in the amount of $ 606,519 for the WWTP Transformer Replacement project.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:
A. Awarding the WWTP Transformer Replacement, Project CP240031 to Clyde G. Steagall, Inc. in the amount of $ 606,519; and,
B. Authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents and to approve change orders not to exceed 15% of the total contract.

CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES
As provided for in the 2024-25 Adopted Budget.
DISCUSSION
The work to be performed includes, but is not limited to, the replacement in kind of three 1,000kVA sub-station style transformers on the existing pads with new ground rod and copper grounding.
The project is located at the City of Merced Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) at 1961 Gove Road, Merced, CA. Bids are required for the entire work described herein.
Based upon a consultant inspection of the existing transformers, it was determined these transformers are in poor condition and must be replaced before they fail and disrupt WWTP operations.
Staff prepared plans and specifications, and the project was advertised for bids. Bids were opened on October 31, 2024, with the following results:

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
Project CP240031 is established as a Capital Improvement Project to be funded by Enterprise funds. There is sufficient funding to complete this project.
