DISCUSSION

The Merced Fire Department is currently in the design phase of the Merced Regional Fire Training Center.  Included in the design is a classroom for fire department members, city employees and community members to conduct and participate in a classroom learning environment.  A typical portable classroom capable of holding thirty students with instructors’ ranges between $300,000 and $500,000 dollars.  The savings to the overall cost of the project is of significant value considering current cost of materials and services. The donation of the building creates very limited impact to the $3 Million donated by Senator Anna Caballero in 2022.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

The fire department will utilize funding donated in 2022 by Senator Anna Caballero to move the building to the airport for storage at a cost of $30,000.00 until the location of the building on the training site is prepared.
