Considers the adoption of a resolution authorizing submittal of a grant application to the California Strategic Growth Council for the Transformative Climate Communities Program Planning Grant. No matching funds are required.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:
A. Adopting Resolution 2023-62, a resolution of the City Council of the City of Merced, California, authorizing submittal of grant proposal for Transformative Climate Communities Planning Grant; and,
B. Authorizing the City Manager or the Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

DISCUSSION
The Transformative Climate Communities Program (TCC), established by AB 2722 (Burke, 2016), invests in community-led climate resilience projects in the state's most overburdened communities. The program objectives are to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve public health and the environment, and support economic opportunity and shared prosperity. The Planning Grants intend to support planning activities to prepare disadvantaged communities for future funding opportunities in programs that align with the TCC Program's objectives.
