Considers adopting Resolution 2023-22 designating the City Manager or Deputy City Manager as the authorized agent for the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion adopting Resolution 2023-22, a Resolution of the City of Council of the City of Merced, California, designation of authorized agent to file applications and execute documents required to obtain disaster relief assistance.

DISCUSSION
The State of California, Cal OES requires a Resolution authorizing a public entity to submit applications for the purpose of obtaining federal financial assistance, under the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act. If this Resolution is approved, it will serve as a universal resolution which will be effective for all open and future disasters up to three (3) years following the date of City Council approval. The Resolution designates the City Manager or Deputy City Manager to serve as the City's Authorized Agent with respect to applications for financial assistance for disasters.
On May 4, 2020, the City Council adopted Resolution 2020-21, which designated the City Manager or Assistant City Manager as the Authorized Agents for the State of Cal OES. This designation is effective until May 4, 2023, and it must be renewed every three years. This designati...
