RECOMMENDATION
Arts and Culture Advisory Commission – Adopt a motion:
A. Establishing a subcommittee; and,
B. Appointing commissioners to a subcommittee.

DISCUSSION
Council Member Harris has asked that the Arts and Culture Advisory Commission explore the possibility of holding a Renaissance Fair at Applegate Park and whether an event of this type could provide sufficient community value to support a City investment.
Renaissance fairs can vary considerably in size, programming, cost, event management and the level of involvement by the host agency. Before determining whether an event would be feasible at Applegate Park, additional research is needed.
Staff recommends that the Commission consider forming a subcommittee to research the concept. The subcommittee could review comparable Renaissance fairs and different event-production models, identify potential event producers and community partners, and gather information regarding attendance, event size, site and infrastructure needs, parking, public safety, accessibility, staffing, vendors and performers, estimated costs and revenues, sponsorship opportunities, and potential community and economic benefits.
