The newly appointed Council Two District Member will take his Oath of Office pursuant to City of Merced Charter Section 612, before taking his seat at the dais.

DISCUSSION
On October 7, 2025, Councilmember Ronnie DeAnda submitted a letter of resignation to the City Clerk, indicating that his resignation from the District Two seat will be effective October 31, 2025.
Subsequently, City Council decided to fill this vacancy through appointment and accepted applications from qualified electors of the City. The deadline for application submittals was November 21, 2025. A special meeting of City Council was duly noticed for December 2, 2025. At that meeting, Council appointed Yang Pao Thao to be the next representative of District Two.
Mr. Thao shall hold office until the first Tuesday following the next general municipal election and until his successor is elected and qualified.
