REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers accepting and appropriating grant funding in the amount of $750 from USTA for H.I.T.S. (Honesty, Integrity, Teamwork, Sportsmanship) tennis equipment grant.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:

A. Accepting $750 grant funds from United States Tennis Association Northern California in Fund 1018-Parks & Community Service; and,

B. Increasing contribution revenue in the amount of $750 and appropriating the same to Operating Materials, Services and Supplies in Fund 1018-Parks and Community Services; and,

C. Authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

DISCUSSION
The City of Merced has been approved for an equipment grant from USTA NorCal to implement a tennis program H.I.T.S (Honesty, Integrity, Teamwork, Sportsmanship). H.I.T.S. is a low-cost/free tennis program for kids 10 and under that incorporates the fundamentals of tennis, sportsmanship and life skills enrichment. With support from the USTA NorCal, H.I.T.S. is a fun and easy program that includes training and resources to run a tennis program at our local tennis courts, blacktop or indoor gym.
