DISCUSSION

Ordinance 10.20.190 of the Merced Municipal Code dictates the minimum warrants required to install new stop signs in the City. In the current ordinance, the Traffic Committee or the City Engineer are the responsible parties to determine if the request meets the required warrants. On February 2, 2026, City Council approved the dissolution of Traffic Committee.

Ordinance 2589 updates this ordinance to remove Traffic Committee, leaving the City Engineer as the responsible party, to reflect the City Council’s action on February 2, 2026, dissolving the Traffic Committee.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

No appropriation of funds is needed.
