REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers approving to waive competitive bidding and authorizing the purchase of Panasonic FZ40 computers and equipment for Police Patrol Vehicles using current budgeted funds in an amount not to exceed $110,000.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:

A. Waiving the competitive bidding requirement for equipment standardization; and,

B. Authorizing the purchase of mobile computers and related equipment from LEHR Automotive in an amount not to exceed $110,000; and,

C. Authorizing the City Manager to execute all necessary documents for this purpose.

4. Continue to a future meeting.

AUTHORITY
Article III of Title 3, Chapter 3.04, of the Merced Municipal Code relating to purchases over thirty-eight thousand dollars; and Section 3.04.210, exemptions from competitive bidding.

CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES
Public Safety as provided for in the FY 2024-25 Adopted Budget.

DISCUSSION
The Police Department is in the process of replacing eight new marked SUV's, and two marked F150 pickup trucks. These computers will be the newest state of the art machines that have all the latest technology.

This purchase will allow the Police Department to outfit 10 "marked" police units with the latest technology which will allow our officers and staff the ability to interface with state and federal databases and computer systems and to perform more work and essential functions in the field.
