DISCUSSION

As part of the 2024/25 Budget, the City Council has allocated $100,000 for art installations and events across Merced. A key initiative recommended by the Arts and Culture Arts Project Subcommittee is a three series Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series in Downtown Merced in Bob Hart Square or at the Civic Center. This series will offer residents an opportunity to enjoy live music during their lunch breaks, featuring one group per concert with a $1,500 budget and a total project budget of $4,500.

The series will spotlight various genres. Following the commission's approval, staff will issue a call for musicians or musical groups, with one group selected for each concert. This approach will ensure that each concert in the series is a unique and memorable experience for the Merced community.

Once the commission reviews and approves the project, it will be presented to the City Council for final approval.
