Past Action
On June 17, 2024, Council made a motion to approve the Consent Calendar that included the introduction of Ordinance 2565. The vote passed unanimously.
Past Discussion
At the meeting of January 9, 2024, the Traffic Committee approved recommending the addition of a four-way stop at the intersection at 11th Street and Canal Street.
Currently, there is a two-way stop on W 11th Street traveling west and east bound. Due to the increase in collisions in the area and the restricted view from numerous parked cars, the intersection was proposed by a City Police Sergeant to add stop signs to Canal Street, creating a four-way stop.
The Police Department researched the intersection and found there were ten reported collisions in 2023 and five reported collisions in 2022. The traffic data for this intersection warrants a four-way stop be created.
