REPORT IN BRIEF
The Ordinance proposes revisions to Chapter 10.50.010 - "Establishment" of the Merced Municipal Code by removing the current language "traffic committee" and replacing the wording with "city engineer or his/her designee" to align with restructuring.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:

A. Introducing and approving the first reading of Ordinance 2588, an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Merced, California, Amending Chapter 10.50.010, "Establishment"; and,

B. Setting the Ordinance for a second reading and adoption.

DISCUSSION
Chapter 10.50 of the Merced Municipal Code is related to Residential Parking Permit Zones. Chapter 10.50.010 - Establishment states in general upon the recommendation of the traffic committee or the filing with the city clerk of a verified petition containing the valid signatures of at least sixty-seven percent (67%) of the residents and owners of real property in a specific residential area, council shall conduct a public hearing to consider whether that residential area should be designated as a residential parking permit zone.
