DISCUSSION
The 2023-2024 City Council Goals and Priorities sheet includes "explore RV street parking ordinance options" as a goal approved by City Council under Quality of Life and City Policies (d.). Staff researched other communities within the state to find representative examples of policies which limit or address in some manner RV street parking.

Here are some examples of regulations set by other cities in California regarding RV parking:

The City of Bellflower does not allow trailers to be parked on the street unless attached to a vehicle, and no trailers (exception for moving trailers) are to be parked on the street between the hours of midnight and 6:00 am. However, a permit for overnight on-street parking can be issued no more than 4 times in a 2-year period.

The City of Gardena does not allow RV parking on the street between 10:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The Chief of Police issues RV permits (valid 2 years) that are to be displayed in the windshield. No extension cords, cables, sewer connections or dumping allowed.

The City of Rancho Palos Verdes allows RVs to be parked on private property if they do not interfere with the sidewalk or landscaping. RVs must be maintained and covered if parked in an area visible from the street. Permits are required to park on street.
