SUBJECT: Reconsideration of the District 2 Appointment to the Planning Commission
REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers a motion to reconsider the City Council's July 6, 2026 appointment to the District 2 seat on the Planning Commission. If the motion to reconsider is approved, the City Council may consider nominations and appoint an individual to fill the vacancy.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:
A. Reconsidering the July 6, 2026 appointment to the District 2 Planning Commission pursuant to Resolution No. 2024-65; and
If the motion to reconsider is approved:
B. Nominating and appointing an individual to the District 2 Planning Commission seat.

1. Approve motion to reconsider and proceed with nominations and an appointment;
2. Deny motion to reconsider, in which case the July 6, 2026 appointment shall remain in effect;
3. Continue the matter to a future meeting; or
4. Provide other direction to staff.

DISCUSSION
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission holds public hearings to periodically update the City's General Plan and to review applications for discretionary development within the City, including recommendations for projects requiring final City Council action. In doing so, it studies land subdivisions, planning, and zoning matters, and recommends to the City Council the adoption, amendment, or repeal of the City's General Plan for the physical development of the City. The Planning Commission also serves as the Design Review/Historic Preservation Commission and as the Board of Zoning Adjustment.
