DISCUSSION

In 2014, the City Water Division applied for a Water-Energy Grant to fund the conversion from flat rate accounts to meters and to upgrade the meter reading software system.  The Council approved the application and authorized the City Manager to execute the agreement if selected.

 

The initial award recipients selected by the State at the end of March 2015 did not include the City of Merced and it was thought the proposal was denied. 

 

However, on June 25, 2015, the final award recipients were announced and the City of Merced was awarded $2.5 million dollars for the proposal.
