DISCUSSION
The Merced Yosemite Regional Airport is preparing to open its new terminal and transition to a new airline, Contour Airlines. Airport staff are planning a soft-opening of the terminal in July 2026, at the same time the new airline begins service. This stage includes setting up the new TSA checkpoint so passengers can be screened for flights to secure airports. As part of this transition, the airport must create a new security plan to support upcoming flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Harry Reid International Airport (LAS.)
