REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers adoption of a resolution adopting the Merced County Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) for the County of Merced, and Cities of Atwater, Dos Palos, Gustine, Livingston, Los Banos and Merced.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion adopting Resolution 2022-16, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Merced, adopting the Merced County Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

DISCUSSION
Participating jurisdictions have prepared this MJHMP to guide hazard mitigation planning to better protect the people and property of the county from effects of hazard events. This plan demonstrates the community's commitment to reducing risk from hazards and serves as a tool to help decision maker direct mitigation activities and resources. This plan was also developed to make Merced County and participating jurisdictions eligible for certain federal disaster assistance, specifically the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants including the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Flood Mitigation Assistance and Building resilient Infrastructure and Communities program, as well as to make the County and jurisdictions more disaster resistant. This plan demonstrates the commitment to reducing risks from hazards and serves as a tool to help decision makers direct mitigation activities and resources.
