REPORT IN BRIEF
The Council is being asked to open a public meeting for public input on the establishment and levying of an assessment to create a Tourism Businesses Improvement District (TBID) as contained in Merced City Council Resolution 2024-92.
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council - Adopt a motion opening the public meeting period seeking public input regarding the establishment and levying of an assessment for the formation Tourism Business Improvement District, Resolution 2024-92, without acting until the public hearing is closed on December 2, 2024.

AUTHORITY
Charter of the City of Merced, Section 200; Property and Business Improvement District Law of 1994; Sections 36600, et seq., to the California Streets and Highways Code.

DISCUSSION
On October 7, 2024, the City Council adopted Resolution 2024-92, "A Resolution of Intention to Establish a Tourism Business Improvement District" (Attachment 1.) The Resolution authorized the scheduling of a Public Meeting for November 4, 2024, for public comment, and scheduling a Public Hearing for December 2, 2024 (Attachment 1).
