Staff to provide a report on the status of approved art projects.

DISCUSSION

This report provides an update on the city’s approved public art projects. From concerts and murals to sculptures and refreshed utility boxes, these projects are helping bring more creativity cultural pride to our community spaces. Staff are project plans and RFPs ready, with several expected to be released in December.

 

Brown Bag Concerts - Six concert series - Beginning in December - through April

 

                     Brian Cade - December

                     Cheryl Lockett and 2 Hoots & a Hollar - December

                     Madison Mitchell and the MAC Theater Camp Performers - January

                     The Wrecking Balls - February

                     William Bailey - March

                     Zoey Rae - April

 

General Vang Pao Park Sculpture

 

Blue Heron Upcycle Project

                     The RFP for this project will be issued December 2nd

 

Bob Hart Square Medallion Project

                     The RFP for this project will be issued December 2nd

 

Large Scale Mural R Street Multiuse Path Undercrossing

                     Staff is working on the RFP with an anticipated issue date of December 15th

 

Downtown Art Logo and Signage

                     Staff is working on the RFP with an anticipated issue date of December 29th

 

School Art Project Display at the Civic Center

 

Staff are coordinating with school art programs to plan a schedule for showcasing art projects.

 

The Utility Box Refresh 18th, Main, and 16th Streets

 

                     Staff is working on a protocol to prepare utility boxes for the refresh project. The utility boxes need to be striped and primed for this project to move forward

 

A remaining budget of approximately $13,500 is projected, recommended to be reserved for upcoming installation costs for select sculpture and medallion projects.
