REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers appointing one Council nominated individual to the Personnel Board.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion appointing one individual from the remaining applicants to serve as a Council nominated replacement member of the Personnel Board to a full-term expiring on July 1, 2026.

DISCUSSION
History and Past Actions

The Personnel Board, created by City Charter, recommends to City Council the adoption, amendment, or repeal of civil service rules and regulations, in addition to other personnel matters. The Board consists of five members who serve four-year terms of office.

The members of the Personnel Board shall be nominated and appointed in the following manner:

One member shall be appointed by the City Council directly.

There is one vacancy on the Personnel Board. The Council appointed seat is vacant with the term end-date of July 1, 2026, with the resignation of Alexander Carr.

At the January 5, 2024, Council Meeting, Council appointed Dorothea White as the Employee Nominated Personnel Board member. There were three motions to appoint a Council Appointed member and all three motions failed. A final motion was made to continue this matter to the February 20, 2024, Council meeting. Between the deadline for the February 5, 2024, Council meeting and now, we received two additional eligible applications. They have been added for Council's consideration.
