Report Prepared by: Karen Baker, Economic Development Associate, Merced Yosemite Regional Airport
Title
SUBJECT: Airport Manager Report
REPORT IN BRIEF
We want to welcome new Airport Manager Rhett Williams to the Merced Yosemite Regional Airport, his first day was on Monday, August 18, 2024.
We would also like to welcome new Regional Airport Authority Member, Seferino Silva, who is replacing Noah Venagas who resigned from the RAA.
Airport Staff have been focused on the Terminal Replacement Project. Weekly meetings with Diede Construction, Engineering Staff, Airport Staff and Mead & Hunt are held to give updates and to provide updated construction schedules.
Staff is working with RS&H Engineering firm to discuss the closure and plans for a new fuel farm at the Merced Yosemite Regional Airport. Single-walled underground storage tanks (USTs) must be permanently closed by December 31, 2025. This requirement includes both single-walled tanks and non-exempt single-walled piping per California Health and Safety Code, chapter 6.7, section 25292.05.
Staff has been working with Finance to close out the Airport’s Operation and Maintenance Grant with the FAA.
This Grant covered operation and maintenance costs from 2020-2024 and allowed the Airport to purchase much needed equipment such as a new tractor, large mower and triple deck small mower. In addition, we were able to build and install the new restroom by the tower for aviation tenants and transient aircraft guests.
Staff has been working with Vela Marketing to develop a new website to go along with our new logo.
