RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:

A. Adopting Resolution No.2016-36, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Merced, California, approving the Local Transportation Fund (LTF) Claim to be filed with the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG) for Fiscal Year 2016/2017; and,

B. Accepting Local Transportation Funds (LTF) from the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG), increasing revenue account 007-0701-324.05-00 in the amount of $831,156; transferring to Fund 450 and Appropriating the same to account 450-1104-637.65-00-Projects to be Determined.

AUTHORITY
The Transportation Development Act (TDA) of 1971 provides for distribution of Local Transportation Funds (LTF) to local agencies for street and road use, granted there are no unmet transit needs in the presiding county.

DISCUSSION
Local Transportation Funds (LTF) are administered by the State of California and allocated through the Merced County Association of Governments (MCAG). LTF funds are first designated for identified transit needs, and any remaining balance is apportioned to local agencies for non-transit uses, such as streets and roads. In previous years, the City received an annual allocation determined by a population-based formula. This is the first year since 2009 that this funding has been available to the City.
