As provided for in the 2016-17 Adopted Budget

DISCUSSION
As part of the FY 16-17 budget process, the City Council created a new Fund (074 - Economic Development Opportunity Fund) combining funds from the General Fund ($812,025) and Airport Industrial Park ($1,086,577) for a total of $1,898,602. The Economic Development Opportunity Fund was established in order to take advantage of business development and job creation opportunities.

Currently, the City is taking on business development opportunity through the Merced Downtown Commons project. Requests for Proposals have been issued for the mixed-use (retail, office, and apartment) project, and are due by August 26, 2016. The project calls for the construction of a mixed-use development on a 1.4-acre site bordered by W. 18th Street, N Street, and W. 19th Street. The City owns four (Parking Lot...
