REPORT IN BRIEF
Staff requests the setting of a public hearing on May 15, 2017, to consider the 2015 Urban Water Management Plan.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion setting a Public Hearing to consider the 2015 Urban Water Management Plan on May 15, 2017.

DISCUSSION
The Urban Water Management Planning Act of the California Water Code, Sections 10610-10656 states that every urban water supplier that provides water to 3,000 or more customers should make every effort to ensure the appropriate level of water service reliability to meet the needs of its customers during normal, dry, and multiple dry years. The Act requires urban water suppliers to update and submit their adopted Urban Water Management Plan (UWMP) to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) for the years ending in zero and five.

At the City Council meeting of October 3, 2016, Carollo Engineers, Inc. was authorized to update our 2015 Urban Water Management Plan. A draft final report has been completed and sent to Merced County, Merced Irrigation District, Merced County Association of Governments and the County Library. Staff has prepared a Notice of Public Hearing to be advertised in the newspaper for the required two consecutive weeks prior to the Public Hearing.
