SUBJECT: Planning Commission Reappointments (2)

 

REPORT IN BRIEF

Consider reappointing currently seated individuals to an additional term on the Planning Commission

 

RECOMMENDATION

City Council - Adopt a motion reappointing Robert Dylina and Kevin Smith to a second term on the Planning Commission.

3.  Refer back to staff with direction to resume recruitment of applicants.

Article VII, Sections 700, 702, 702.1, 707 and 708 of the Merced City Charter.

 

CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES

Not applicable.

 

DISCUSSION

Both Robert Dylina and Kevin Smith have served one full term on the Planning Commission.  Both have expressed the desire to serve a second term and both meet the eligibility requirements set forth in the Charter.

 

The term of Kurt Smoot has also expired and he has respectfully declined to seek reappointment.  The matter of that vacancy will be brought to Council at a future Study Session interview.

 

History and Past Actions:

The Planning Commission, created by City Charter, studies land subdivision, planning, and zoning matters.  The Commission recommends to the City Council the adoption, amendment, or repeal of the City’s Master Plan for the physical development of the City.  The Commission consists of seven members who are qualified electors of the City of Merced.  Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m.

 

Attached are the current roster and the current applications on file for members seeking reappointment.  The matter is now before the Council.
