REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers approving a five-year extension to lease agreement with the Merced Soccer Academy, Inc. for the Stephen Leonard Park Youth Center.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion approving the recommendation by the Recreation and Parks staff, extending the Stephen Leonard lease agreement with the Merced Soccer Academy, Inc., and authorizing the City Manager or Assistant City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

DISCUSSION
In 2015, the City of Merced, offered two after-school youth centers to community-based organizations rent-free, and the City will pay up to $7,500 annually in utility costs. The Merced Soccer Academy was selected for a two-year contract. The contract states that the non-profit group must provide important services to the public, conducting a variety of youth and community programs. The Merced Soccer Academy has implemented a variety of services to the community, such as parent resource classes, activities for young children, after-school tutoring, and soccer academics. Merced Soccer Academy would like to extend the lease agreement for five (5) years, and has agreed to continue providing adequate services to the community.
