SUBJECT: Authorization for the Purchase of WEB CAD Monitor Software From Tyler Technologies and Maintenance for WEB CAD Monitor and Career Criminal Software
REPORT IN BRIEF
Purchase of new software module and addition of two software modules to existing maintenance agreement dated July 1, 2013.
RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion approving the purchase of a new software module for our existing public safety software package from Tyler Technologies adding maintenance fees for WEB CAD Monitor and Career Criminal Software to the existing maintenance contract.

AUTHORITY
Charter of the City of Merced, Section 200 et seq.
Chapter 3.04, Section 3.14.110B, of the Merced Municipal Code requiring council approval for contracts involving professional services exceeding $30,000 dollars.
CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES
Enhance the efficiency and productivity of public safety staff by using technology to operate in a more resourceful manner.
DISCUSSION
The Fire Department and Police Department would like to purchase additional Tyler Technology software. The software (WEB CAD Monitor) will allow both the fire and police departments’ additional access to critical information. WEB CAD Monitor will allow both agencies access to live CAD (computer aided dispatch) information via a secure web based platform. WEB CAD Monitor will allow fire and police personnel access to cleared call search information for the purposes of report writing, quality control of data and immediate access to vital information that can enhance our response capabilities. WEB CAD Monitor will allow streaming of live incidents and automated vehicle location information to fixed monitors in fire stations, public safety facility lobbies, and supervisor offices.
The cost of the WEB CAD Monitor software includes a one-time investment of $13,000 for software license fees and a fixed installation service fee of $1,160.
The maintenance for this module will be added to our existing maintenance contract dated July 1, 2013. The maintenance for WEB CAD Monitor will be broken down as follows:

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
WEB CAD Monitor and maintenance will be funded through Merced City Fire Department budget and Career Criminal maintenance will be funded through the Merced City Police Department budget. Funding is available within the budget.
