DISCUSSION

The Automated Surface Observation System (ASOS), Back-Up Emergency Communications (BUEC), & Remote Transmitter/Receiver (RTR) Rack Space lease is for a 10-foot-by-10-foot area of the Merced Regional Airport terminal building and the associated antenna located on the roof of the terminal building for support of FAA air traffic operations.

The government will pay no monetary rent, but will provide all obligations assumed by the FAA for the establishment, operation, and maintenance of navigational aid facilities on the premises. The term of the lease is October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2036. This lease formalizes the use of the space at the airport by the FAA for the past many years.

The Merced Regional Airport Authority recommends approval by the City Council of the lease with the FAA.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES
