CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES

FY 2018/19 City Council Priorities

DISCUSSION

During the FY 2018/19 Budget process, the Parks and Recreation Commission worked with City staff to identify on-going and one-time needs within the Applegate Zoo and various parks throughout the City.  The Parks and Recreation Commission presented these items as possible budget items for consideration of the Council.

After the June 2018 election, the “Yes on Measure Y Committee” discovered that there were $24,000 in remaining donated funds.  The Committee felt it would be appropriate to use the funds donated in the same manner dedicated by Measure Y.  As a result, the Committee is making a donation to the City of Merced in support of one-time zoo and park improvements.  Staff is recommending that the City Council accept the donation and appropriate the funds to be used in support of the Applegate Zoo shelter improvements and facility improvements at Rahilly, McNamara and Joy Herb parks.

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

With the City Council accepting the donation of $24,000 from the “Yes on Measure Y Committee”, funds will be appropriated in expenditure account 424-1201-647.65-00 (Capital Improvement Projects) and offset by revenue account 424-1201-360.02-01 (Contributions and Donations).  There is no impact to the General Fund.
