DISCUSSION

The City of Merced has a need, from time to time, to engage the services of attorney’s for personnel related matters. One of the attorneys the City has engaged to perform those services is Amy Oppenheimer. The City Manager or designee has the authority to enter into agreements that do not exceed $30,000.  However, once the cost of the services exceeds that threshold, Council approval is required.  The cost of the services that have been performed by Ms. Oppenheimer have exceeded the delegated authority of $30,000. Therefore, Council approval is required to enter into the agreement in the not to exceed amount of $60,000.
