DISCUSSION

At the Citizens Advisory Charter Review Committee meeting of June 18, 2019, the initial discussion on Charter Section 402 was led by Mayor Murphy, who stated reasons the City Council suggested that this section be reviewed.  The committee requested staff provide the compensation of City Council Members from other cities in the valley to assist with the discussion and the ultimate recommendation that will be provided to the Council.

 

Staff has compiled results of surveying other valley cities and the compensation numbers are listed below.  Additionally, Government Code 36516 was created at the State level and provides General Law Cities guidelines for compensation based on population.  It has been attached as reference.

 

Turlock                     $500 monthly

Ceres                                          $500 monthly

Madera                     $500 monthly

Los Banos                     $300 monthly

Chowchilla                     $300 monthly
