Body
ALTERNATIVES
1. Adopt a motion selecting from one of two applicants to use the Youth Center, and; make the recommendation to City Council; or,
2. Recommend the award for the use of the use of the 27th and K Youth Center under an alternative plan as determined by City Council; or,
3. Direct staff to go back and seek new users to lease the facility; or,
4. Direct staff to leave the facility vacant; or,
5. Continue to a future meeting (date and time to be specified in the motion).
DISCUSSION
The City Council instructed staff to rehabilitate the 27th and K Youth Center in order to lease the facility out for youth programming activities. The facility underwent repairs and upgrades and is now complete. The Parks and Recreation Department published a request for interest seeking interested parties, and received 3 applications. One application was deemed ineligible as they were not offering youth services, but rather, services for Veterans. The remaining 2 applications were from the Restorative Justice League and the Rotary Club. Both are under your consideration today. Staff recommends awarding the lease to both applicants to share the building.
