REPORT IN BRIEF
Considers approving the Service Agreements with eight artists for the CALTRANS Clean California State Beautification Program not to exceed the amount of $350,000.

RECOMMENDATION
City Council - Adopt a motion:

A. Approving the service agreements with eight artists for CALTRANS Clean California State Beautification Program not to exceed the amount of $350,000 in funding for the installation of transportation mural art; and,

B. Authorizing the City Manager or the Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents.

As provided for in the 2022-23 Council Goals and Priorities; Public Works & City Beautification; item D: Caltrans Murals - Clean California grant implementation of 8 murals.

DISCUSSION
As part of Governor Newsom's Clean California initiative, Caltrans awarded a $350,000 grant to the City of Merced to fund the Merced Mural project in October of 2022. An RFP was issued 4/6/2022 and 17 submissions were received by the 05/06/2022 deadline. The Arts & Culture Advisory Commission appointed a subcommittee to review, score and recommend eight (8) mural designs for eight (8) Caltrans undercrossing in the City of Merced. At a special meeting, held on 06/15/2022, the subcommittee's recommendations were presented to the Commission.
