REPORT IN BRIEF

Considers awarding a construction contract to Mid Cal Pipeline & Utilities, Inc. in the amount of $876,235 for the Orchard Lane Sewer Relocation Project.

 

RECOMMENDATION

City Council - Adopt a motion:

 

A.  Awarding the Orchard Lane Sewer Relocation Project, Project No. CP190025 to Mid Cal Pipeline & Utilities, Inc., in the amount of $876,235; and,

 

B.  Authorizing the City Manager or Deputy City Manager to execute the necessary documents and to approve change orders not to exceed 10% of the total contract; and, 

 

C.  Authorizing the Finance Officer authorization to make necessary budget adjustments.

AUTHORITY

Charter of the City of Merced, Article XI, Section 1109 - Contracts on Public Works, and Merced Municipal Code Chapter 3.04, Article IV - Public Works Contracts.

 

CITY COUNCIL PRIORITIES

As provided for in the 2022-23 Adopted Budget.

 

DISCUSSION

Under the direction of City Staff, Kleinfelder prepared plans and City Staff prepared specifications for the sanitary sewer relocation. The project was advertised, and bids were opened on March 14, 2023, with the following results:

The engineer’s estimate for construction was $811,000.

 

The following is the proposed budget for the sewer main relocation:

IMPACT ON CITY RESOURCES

Currently, there is sufficient funding within Fund 6000 Wastewater System Operation Project No. CP190025 Orchard Lane Sewer Main Replacement to construct the new sewer line.
