EMSA recognized California’s EMS heroes during EMSA’s annual EMS Awards Ceremony held on May 23, 2023, at Bellflower, CA. This event honored individuals for going above and beyond to serve the people of California through heroic acts and extraordinary contributions to EMS. Recipients include EMS Personnel, Local EMS Agency Medical Directors and Administrators, and members of the public.
Of special note is the EMS Cross Award which recognizes a uniformed EMT who by act and deed represents the most outstanding achievement or accomplishment in EMS over an extended period of time. This is the highest award that can be conferred in the absence of extreme conditions and extraordinary circumstances.
It is our pleasure to honor the 2022 EMS Cross Award recipient, the City of Merced’s very own Fire Chief Derek Parker.
